Back to Basics

I feel like I’ve taken a step back in my suburban landscape images. I’m concentrating on capturing smaller objects. It’s the lingering influence of the Alphabet exercise and seeing things through a zoom lens. I’m more actively working to capture the feel of an object rather than responding to a rendered scene before me. It’s easier to do in the summer when the light is less dramatic.

I'm an MD, PhD Neurologist who left a successful academic career on the Faculty of The Johns Hopkins Medical School to develop new treatments in Biotech and Pharma. I became fascinated with how people actually make decisions based on the science of decision theory and emerging understanding of how the brain works to make decisions. My passion now is this deep explanation of what has been the realm of philosophy, psychology and self help but is now understood as brain function. By understanding our brains, I believe we can become happier, more successful people.

  1. I also like that concept, but see you mention ‘zoom lens’, I hope in the case of the DP1 that you will work with a close up lens? I would not want to see you neglect the DP1, I see some marvelous pictures coming from that tool from you!

I do tend to flip back and forth between the Nikon D300 and the Sigma DP1. I seem to be in a DSLR exploration mode since I’ve been near home base for the most part. I’m sure I’ll return to the DP1 as the opportunity arises.
